Green Credentials

At Sugden Sports Centre, we understand the importance of reducing our carbon footprint and being ‘green’. Over the past few years, we have been working hard to improve our environmental performance, and have had some great successes.

Serco Leisure’s innovative carbon strategy comprises a methodology of no cost, low cost and high cost actions through specialist teams, as well as a staff education programme which is cascaded from the top through all levels of the organisation. Serco Leisure’s specialist team is available to offer advice to your organisation on reducing energy consumption.

In order to ensure that Sugden Sports Centre is as ‘green’ as possible we will be ensuring all staff carry out energy and water efficiency measures as part of their general duties. These measures include:

• Turning any manually controlled lights off when not required.
• Ensuring windows and doors are closed if heating / cooling is on.
• Reporting of, and the prompt repair of, any dripping taps, showers etc.
• Maximising the use of natural lighting.
• Ensuring temperatures are set as recommended.
• Ensuring timers are set so that timer controlled equipment operates closely to the requirements of the Centre
